The U Boat pens as they look today

This picture was taken from one of the bomber aircraft that unsuccessfully attacked the U Boat pens at Lorient in 1942, the U Boat pens are shown as the target, just to the right of the bombs.

Many of the men shot down in those unsuccessful raids are now buried in Lorient (Kerentrech) Communal Cemetery
