|Sutton War Memorial|
This sign of the great sacrifice is raised in honour of OUR HEROIC DEAD, who gave their lives for England in the Great War.
Their name liveth for evermore.
The memorial stands within Manor Park which is situated on Carshalton Road (A232), it is opposite the Police station.
The memorial consists of a large ornamental cross upon a plinth, as well as the plaques containing names of the commemorated, it has four panels, one contains the inscription, the other three the emblems representing the Army, Navy and R.A.F. Sadly these are in a state of disrepair, particularly the Naval panel which is falling to pieces. There are also four angels upon the plinth overlooking the park. 524 men are commemorated upon the memorial.
