Albert Toft. The Book of Remembrance is housed in the base of the memorial. It was unveiled by General Sir Ian Hamilton in April 1923 before a crowd estimated at over 10,000. It cost £20,000 which was raised by public subscription. The memorial stands in the town centre, in front of St Mary's Parish Church |
