Salmaise Communal Cemetery

Salmaise is a village in the Department of the Côte d'Or, some 13 kilometres west of St.-Seine-l'Abbaye Close to the Crucifix is the grave of an Australian soldier. The cemetery is adjacent to the impressive Halles which served as a market place.

Burial details:

Pte. Harold Victor MESTON, 9th Bn. Australian Inf. A.I.F. Died from accident 4th April 1916, aged 30. Son of Alexander and Janet Louisa Meston of 73 Victoria Street, Lewisham, New South Wales. Born at Woodburn, New South Wales.
