Location Information

Euskirchen is a town in West Germany approx 40km south of Köln (Cologne).

From the A61 Mönchengladbach to Koblenz motorway take exit 110 (Ausfahrt 110) EUSKIRCHEN and follow direction EUSKIRCHEN.

Continue for approx 2kms along the L264 (FRAUENBERGER STRAßE) and the main entrance to the cemetery can be found on the left.

CWGC graves are located in the German Plot (Feld 39-41).

Turn right immediately on entering the cemetery and continue for approx. 50m, the German Plot can be found on the right.

The cemetery address is: Frauenberger Straße 158, 53879 Euskirchen, Germany.

The majority of First World War Commonwealth war graves in Germany were moved into four permanent cemeteries after the war. However, a few graves could not be moved on religious grounds or for other reasons and they remain in their original locations in German military and civil cemeteries.

The 1st Canadian Casualty Clearing Station, 42nd Stationary Hospital and 47th Casualty Clearing Station were posted to Euskirchen after the Armistice.

Most of the graves in the New Town Cemetery were removed to Cologne Southern Cemetery, but the graves of two Indian artillerymen of the Army of Occupation remain.

There are 653 German War Dead from World War Two buried here
