CRÉPY-EN-VALOIS COMMUNAL CEMETERY

Location Information

Crépy-en-Valois is a town situated 24 km east of Senlis in the Department of the Oise. The Communal cemetery is on the Compiègne road on the northern outskirts of the town on the D332. In the south-west corner are ten Commonwealth burials of the Great War, three of which are unidentified.

Burial Details


4743 Lance Corporal F. E. Bishop, 1st Bn. Queen's Own (Royal West Kent Regiment), died 1st September 1914, aged 38. Long Service and Good Conduct Medal. Son of William and Eliza Bishop, of Brookland, Kent; husband of Elizabeth Bishop, of 95, Emmanuel Rd., West Hill, Hastings, Sussex.

11596 Private Benjamin Hartley Burgon, "B" Company, 2nd Bn. Scottish Borderers, died 1st September 1914, aged 19. Son of James and Annie B. Burgon, of 3, Westfield St., Gorgie, Edinburgh.

9877 Lance Corporal H. T. Cain, 1st Bn. Queen's Own (Royal West Kent Regiment, died 21st October 1914.

40280 Lance Corporal R. B. Dent, 2nd Bn. The Loyal North Lancashire Regiment, died 24th July 1918.

291176 Private James Lee, "Y" Company, 1st/8th Bn. Cameronians (Scottish Rifles), died 23rd July 1918, aged 23. Son of Mr. and Mrs. Matthew Lee, of 127, Springburn Rd., Glasgow.

10190 Private Frank Herbert Perfitt, 1st Bn. Queen's Own (Royal West Kent Regiment), died 1st September 1914, aged 19. Son of Alfred and Rose Perfitt, of 118, Lovel Avenue, Welling, Kent. INSCRIPTION. GONE FROM US BUT NOT FORGOTTEN NEVER SHALL HIS MEMORY FADE.

290987 Private G. Turner, 1st/7th Bn. Cheshire Regiment, died 24th July 1918.
