Location Information


Dax is a major town. The cemetery is called "Cimetiere St Pierre" and is situated on the right hand side of the N647, in the centre of Dax in the direction of Orthez, on the outskirts of town.

The five scattered Commonwealth war graves are in close proximity to one another on the side of the main central path about 20 metres before the central crucifix.



Visiting Information

The cemetery opening times are:

1 May to 30 September: 07.00 - 19.00
1 October to 30 April: 08.00 - 18.00

Please note there is no caretaker available at the cemetery on Saturdays and Sundays.



Burial Details

2203991 Private J. Baines, 7th Company, Canadian Forestry Corps, died 10th June 1918. (served as MORTON).

460244 Private W. Broomfield, 78th Company, Canadian Forestry Corps, died 3rd October 1918.

2498200 Private P. M. Conway, 79th Company, Canadian Forestry Corps, died 1st October 1918.

267260 Private H. S. Hurworth, 78th Company, Canadian Forestry Corps, died 29th September 1918. Son of John Edward Robinson Hurworth and Mary Ann Hurworth, of West Hartlepool, England.

634011 Corporal O. Merkley, 27th Company, Canadian Forestry Corps, died 1st February 1919, aged 21. Son of Mr. and Mrs. W. W. Merkley, of Iroquois, Ontario. Born in Dundas Co.
