Location Information

Divion is a village and commune in the Department of the Pas-de-Calais, on the north side of the Bethune-St. Pol road.


Historical Information

Divion Communal Cemetery contains seven Commonwealth burials of the First World War, in the north east corner, and one from the Second World War.

World War One Burials: 

240359 Private Ernest Arthur Dyke, 1st/6th Bn. North Staffordshire Regiment, died 21st April 1918, aged 32.
 Husband of Elizabeth Dyke, of 50, Stafford St., Burton-on-Trent.

240786 Private T. Edwards, 1st/6th Bn. 
North Staffordshire Regiment, died 21st April 1918, aged 43. Son of James and Charlotte Edwards, of Rugeley; husband of M. Edwards, of 18, Elmore Lane, Rugeley, Staffs. Native of Brereton, Staffs. His headstone bears the inscription "Until The Day Breaks"

24/1182 Corporal Alfred Flatt, 
24th (Tyneside Irish) Bn. Northumberland Fusiliers, died 16th August 1916, aged 36. Son of George and Margaret Ann Flatt, of Seaham Harbour, Co. Durham. His headstone bears the inscription "On Whose Soul Sweet Jesus Have Mercy May He Rest In Peace Amen"

241060 Private Thomas William Jackson, 1st/6th Bn. 
North Staffordshire Regiment, died 21st April 1918, aged 35. His headstone bears the inscription "Gone But Not Forgotten By His Loving Wife Children And Friends"

Clyde Z/714 Petty Officer Thomas McEwan, Drake Bn. Ronal Naval Division, Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve, died 2nd September 1916, aged 28.
 Son of Sophia McEwan, of Greenock, and the late Edmund McEwan. His headstone bears the inscription "Till We Meet Again"

68410 Private Samuel Edward Treby, 11th Bn. 
Machine Gun Corps, died 21st April 1918, aged 27. Son of Henry and Harriet Treby, of "Woodlands," Chalkwell Gardens, Leigh-on-Sea, Essex.

38110 Private John Joe Whitehead, 6th Bn. 
Yorkshire Regiment, died 21st April 1918, aged 34. Husband of Alice Ann Whitehead (now Clayton), of 3, Royds Terrace, Marsden, Huddersfield. His headstone bears the inscription "For Honour Liberty And Truth He Sacrificed His Glorious Youth"


World War Two Burial:

111748 Chaplain 4th Class The Reverend Reginald Thompson Podmore, Royal Army Chaplains Department, died between 21st May 1940 and 23rd May 1940.​
