Location Information

Gièvres Communal Cemetery is situated off the D.54 on the eastern side of the village, on the road to Villefranche-sur-Cher.

There are 2 Commonwealth burials of the 1914-1918 war here, in the North-East (far right) quarter of the cemetery, near the East wall, brought in from Gièvres American Cemetery.



Burial Details

327162 Private Wilfred Dixon D. C. M. 1st/9th Bn. Durham Light Infantry, died 23rd September 1918, aged 21. Son of Annie Dixon, of 73, Brighton Rd., Bensham, Gateshead-on-Tyne, and the late John Dixon. His headstone bears the inscription "Peace Perfect Peace"

541320 Driver William Walsh, 7th Field Squadron, Royal Engineers, died 9th February 1919, aged 47. Son of William Walsh, of Harlow, Essex; husband of Mariam Zillah Walsh, of 19, Apsley St., Rusthall, Tunbridge Wells. His headstone bears the inscription "Ever In Our Thoughts"
