Location Information

Gournay-en-Bray is a small town west of Beauvais. The Communal Cemetery is located and accessed on the Avenue de Général Leclerc

Historical Information

This cemetery contains the scattered graves of one airman and six men of the Royal Army Veterinary Corps.

Burial Details: 

23251 Shoeing Smith, T. Gilbert, Army Veterinary Corps, attached to 24th Veterinary Hospital, died 14th September 1918. Son of Mrs. Mary Gilbert, of 7, Brothern Passage, Budley St., Evesham.

6020 Private J. Hales,
Convalescent Horse Depot, Army Veterinary Corps, died 7th June 1915.

59471 Air Mechanic 2nd Class Basil Jacob, No. 2 Aircraft Supply Depot, Royal Air Force, died 25th June 1918, aged 30.
Husband of Florence Eveline Jacob, of 4, Cornwall Rd., Bishopston, Bristol. His headstone bears the inscription Fondly remembered By His Loving Wife Flossie "Until The Day Break".

395 Private Alfred George Morgan, 
Convalescent Horse Depot, Army Veterinary Corps, died 2nd April 1915, aged 44.
Son of Joseph and Sarah Ann Morgan. Served in the South African Campaign.

T/329876 Driver H. Murray, 
Army Service Corps, attached to 24th Veterinary Hospital, died 30th January 1918.

6852 Private Arthur Samuel Rushforth, Convalescent Horse Depot, Army Veterinary Corps, died 9th May 1917, aged 42. Son of William and Martha Rushforth, of Saffron Walden; husband of Mary Ann Rushforth, of 16, London Rd., Saffron Walden, Essex. His headstone bears the inscription "Peace Perfect Peace"

6904 Private W. G. Standen, 
Convalescent Horse Depot, Army Veterinary Corps, died 19th December 1915, aged 43. Son of William and Ellen J. Standen, of 14, Belmore Rd., Eastbourne.
