​Location Information

Hyères is a large town in the Var region of France. Hyères New Communal Cemetery is on the hillside north-east of the town, and contains two Commonwealth war graves in the French military plot - one from the First World War and one from the Second World War.

World War Two Burial

P/JX 405756 Telegraphist John William Oldfield, Croix de Guerre, H. M. S. Emile Bertin, Royal Navy, died 15th March 1945, aged 20. Son of William and Fanny Oldfield, of Wolston, Warwickshire. his headstone bears the inscription "The Resurrection Morning... Graves Their Dead Restore" Farewell Beloved. Mum Dad and Vi.
