La Chapelle-St. Mesmin Communal Cemetery

​Location Information

La Chapelle St Mesmin is a town 6 kilometres by road west of Orléans, on motorway exit 'Orléans Ouest - La Chapelle'. The six Indian war graves of 1914-1915 are situated in the old cemetery sited on rue des Fours. One grave is central of the south quarter to the right of the entrance, and five are on the east side of the new ground to the north.

Burial Details:

Follower Abdul Sattar, Supply and Transport Corps, died 24th November 1914.

Sowar Diwan Ali Khan, 38th King George's Own Central India Horse, died 4th January 1915.

2743 Sepoy Kana Ram, 125th Napier's Rifles, died 19th December 1914.

9/55 Follower Rahmana, Supply and Transport Corps, died 24th November 1914.

1124 Driver Ram Pershad, Bharatpur (Imperial Service) Transport Corps, died 14th November 1914. 
Husband of Kalawati V. Sewla, of Bareta, Biana, Bharatpur, Rajputana.

2152 Havildar Sahib Gul, 
57th Wilde's Rifles (Frontier Force), died 25th November 1914.
