Lanildut is a village 22 kilometres north-west of Brest. The village is at the coastal end of a secondary road which at the small town of St.Renan, joins the road from Brest. South-East of the Church, near the South boundary, is buried an unidentified British seaman found drowned in October 1917 and a naval officer killed in 1942.

Lieutenant Andrew Jervis Hawkins, H. M. S. Formidable, Royal Navy, died 19th December 1942, aged 21. Son of Edward Robinson Hawkins and Alice Marjorie Hawkins, of Southacre, Norfolk. His headstone bears the inscription "A Much Beloved Only Son And Brother. Born At Southacre, Norfolk, England"
