Historical Information

Laviéville Communal Cemetery contains seven Commonwealth burials of the First World War and one from the Second World War.



World War One Burials

Lieutenant Arthur Richard Barker, 22nd Bn. Australian Infantry, died 24th April 1918.

4675 Lance Corporal George Edmund Colhoun, 22nd Bn. Australian Infantry, died 24th April 1918. Son of George Gregory and Minnie Colhoun; husband of Maude H. Colhoun of The Post Office, Cockatoo, Victoria, Australia.

807 Private Peter Gerald Dermody, 22nd Bn. Australian Infantry, died 23rd April 1918.

6065 Sapper William Newbigging,  Signal Details, Australian Engineers, died 25th April 1918, aged 19. Son of William and Catherine Newbigging of Apple Tree Creek, Childers, Queensland. Native of Gympie.

77 Lance Corporal Thomas Reginald Part, 2nd Division, Signal Company, Australian Engineers, died 25th April 1918, aged 28. Son of Margaret Jane Part of 2 Haywood Av., Torrensville, South Australia and the late Thomas George Part. Native of Glandore, South Australia.

6374 Private Hugh Webb Rundle, 21st Bn. Australian Infantry, died 24th April 1918, aged 32. Son of Thomas W. and Jessie Rundle of Kerang, Victoria, Australia.

37104 Gunner Charles Alfred Smith, "D" Battery, 70th Brigade, Royal Field Artillery, died 27th January 1917, aged 38. Son of Alfred and Sarah Ann Smith of 50 Selhurst New Road, South Norwood, London. Native of Croydon, Surrey.

 
World War Two Burial

305432 Corporal Charles Greasley, Royal Horse Guards, died 1st September 1944 aged 25. Son of Henry and Lucy Ann Greasley of South Elmsall, Yorkshire.
