Location Information

Marbaix is a small village on the D962 midway between Maroilles and Aresnes-sur-Helpe. From the D962 take the D117 south towards Grand Fayt. The cemetery is on the right hand side of the road on the edge of the village and, on entering the cemetery, the three Commonwealth burials war will be found on the left hand side of the centre path.


History Information

Marbaix Communal Cemetery contains three Commonwealth burials of the First World War.


Burial Details


7350 Private Alfred Henry Little, "B" Company, 1st Bn. Northamptonshire Regiment, died 26th August 1914, aged 27.
Son of Nathaniel and Jane Elizabeth Little; husband of Emily Matilda Little, of 54, Elsted St., East St., Walworth, London.


48416 Private George McGee, 9th Bn. Yorkshire Regiment, died 6th November 1918, aged 19. Son of Mrs. Ellen Rhodes, of 10, Harrington St., Lister Hills, Bradford, Yorks.

11430 Private James. M. Thompson, 1st Bn. The King's (Liverpool Regiment), died 25th September 1914, aged 20. Son of John T. and Mary Thompson, of 70, Coniston St., Breck Rd., Everton, Liverpool.
