Location Information

Melun is a town, South-East of Paris in the Seine-et-Marne region of France. The North Cemetery is located on the Rue des Mezereaux.

History Information

Melun North Cemetery contains three Commonwealth burials of the First World War.


Burial Details


3980 Private F. Lyons, 7th Field Ambulance, Australian Army Medical Corps, died 23rd March 1916, aged 23.
INSCRIPTION. UNDYING LOVE OF MOTHER & FRIENDS TO FRANK DIED FOR JUSTICE & HUMANITY.

Lieutenant John Thomas Peacock, Duke of Cornwall's Light Infantry and 49th Squadron, Royal Air Force, died 16th July 1918, aged 22. Son of Annie Peacock, of 3, Buckingham St., York, and the late John Peacock. INSCRIPTION. AT THE GOING DOWN OF THE SUN & IN THE MORNING I WILL REMEMBER YOU.

Second Lieutenant John Haddow Young, 5th Bn. Northumberland Fusiliers, died 9th June 1918, aged 22. Son of John Haddow Young and Frances Amelia Young, of 119, Sydney St., Glasgow.
