Nesles-la-Gilberde is a village situated some 30 kilometres north-west of Provins in the Department of the Seine-et-Marne. The communal cemetery is not far from the church and on the right-hand side of the cemetery is the grave of an Irish Guardsman who fell in September 1914.

2925 Private Michael Blood, 1st Bn. Irish Guards, died 6th September 1914, aged 26. Son of Michael Thomas and Elizabeth Mary Blood of Drogheda, Co. Louth.
