Pommereuil is a village 3 kilometres east of Le Cateau. The British Cemetery is on the south side of the D959, Le Cateau to Landrecies.

Historical Information
Pommereuil was the scene of severe fighting on 23-24 October 1918 and the cemetery was made by the 25th Division after the capture of the village.
Pommereuil British Cemetery contains 173 First World War burials. It originally contained a wooden memorial to the 20th Manchesters, who erected it to their officers and men who fell on the 23rd October.

His headstone bears the inscription; "Memories Last For Ever."
The Rev. T. W. Hart wrote to his mother;
"Dear Mrs Wakefield, I deeply regret having to write to you informing you of the death of your son on Monday, October 28th. It will be some relief for you to know that he suffered no pain, and, what may seem strange to you, he was not wounded at all. The shell burst right by his bivouac when he and three of his comrades were inside. Two of his comrades were killed instantly and your son died just before he reached the dressing station, from concussion. He is buried in the British Military Cemetery."
