Location Information
Somain is a town located between Douai and Valenciennes in the Nord region. The Communal Cemetery is in the North of the town. The grave is located in the South-West corner of the French Memorial tomb.

Lieutenant Herbert Frederick Birdwood, 20th Bn. London Regiment and 3rd Squadron, Royal Flying Corps, died 2nd March 1916, aged 22. Son of Roger Alan and Agnes Birdwood, of 309, Richmond Rd., Twickenham, Middx. Born at Bombay. His inscription reads "Killed In A Fight Over Valenciennes Against Overwhelming Odds"
