Location Information

St. Aubert is a village 14 kilometres east of Cambrai in the Department of the Nord. The church is on the Rue de l'Église. The churchyard contains four burials of the Great War.

Burial Details


13666 Private L. Chadwick, 8th Bn. North Staffordshire Regiment, died 21st October 1918, aged 25. Son of William and Lizzie Chadwick, of 8, Devonport St., Tunstall, Staffs; husband of Gertrude Chadwick, of 38, High St., Newchapel, Stoke-on-Trent. His headstone bears the inscription "He Died For England's Sake"

R/14524 Private Tom Poyser, 8th Bn. North Staffordshire Regiment, died 21st October 1918, aged 20. Son of Arthur and Annie Poyser, of Onecote. Leek. Staffs. His headstone bears the inscription "This Corner Of A Foreign Field That Is Forever England"

15888 Private P. Williams, 9th Bn. Welsh Regiment, died 21st October 1918.

223696 Driver Robert Williams, 527th Howitzer Battery, 56th Brigade, Royal Field Artillery, died 13th October 1918, aged 30. Son of Mr. and Mrs. Job Williams, of Trimdon Grange, Co. Durham.
