ST. QUENTIN GERMAN MILITARY CEMETERY

Location Information

St. Quentin is a large town in the Aisne region of Northern France. The German Military Cemetery is located to the West of the town on the Rue de la Chaussée Romaine.


Historical Information


The cemetery contains 6,294 individual graves, 6 of which do not include names (unknown soldiers); 22 graves are marked with a stele and not a cross, the soldiers who are buried there being of the Jewish faith. Of the 1,935 soldiers buried in the mass grave, 434 are known.

The cemetery was originally started in 1914 during the German occupation of the city, it was destroyed in its original form during bombardments in 1916. The cemetery in its original state can be seen in the images below.
