Location Information
Thionville (Diedenhofen) French National (Mixed) Cemetery is on the west side of the town, adjoining the communal cemetery. The three Commonwealth war graves are in the south-west corner.
Historical Information
The cemetery was made by the Germans as an extension of the garrison cemetery.
Total Burials: 1,648.
Belgian Burials: 2.
French Burials: 161. (including one from Alsace-Lorraine and a civilian victim, Justin Bray, charged with revealing the position of a German sentry and killed by firing squad on 28 August 1914.
German Burials: 787, of which 86 are buried in an Ossuary.
Luxembourg Burials: 3 (three civilian victims killed on 16th July 1918.
Russian Burials: 692, including one civilian worker.
United Kingdom Burials: 3.
