Location Information

Veurne Communal Cemetery is located in the north-east district of the town of Veurne (also known as Furnes). From the Grote Markt the Oostraat leads for 500 metres to the left hand turning onto Oude Vestingstraat. The cemetery is located 500 metres along Oude Vestingstraat on the right hand side of the road.


Historical Information

VEURNE COMMUNAL CEMETERY contains two Commonwealth burials of the First World War.

The adjoining COMMUNAL CEMETERY EXTENSION 
(Clicking on the link will take you to our WW2 site) contains 77 Commonwealth burials of the Second World War, almost all of which date from the last two or three days of May 1940 when the British Expeditionary Force withdrew to a small area around Dunkirk. There are also two Czech war graves within the extension.


Burial Details
 
220196 Petty Officer Samuel George Mann, Royal Navy, H. M. S. Victory, died 20th January 1915, aged 29. Son of George and Emma Mann, of Harrowden, Bedford. Grave 179, west part of cemetery.
