Location Information

Ailly-sur-Somme is a village on the south bank of the River Somme, 8 kilometres north-west of Amiens, on the road to Abbeville (N235). The Communal Cemetery is on the southern side of the village on the road to Borelles. The war graves are near the northern corner of the Cemetery.

Historical Information

Ailly-sur-Somme Communal Cemetery contains three Commonwealth burials of the First World War and seven from the Second World War.

2/4th Bn. Gloucestershire Regt., attd. 9th Bn. Devonshire Regt. Died 3rd August 1916, aged 27. Son of John and Ellen Holly of Horsington, Templecombe, Somerset.

1st Bn. Lancashire Fusiliers. Died 9th January 1917, aged 20. Son of John and Margaret Marsden of Levenshulme, Manchester. Native of Crumpsall, Manchester.
