Location Information

Asnières is a small town, 35 kilometres north of Paris on the D922. The Communal Cemetery is situated on Rue du Cimetiere, and the Commonwealth war graves will be found in the back (east) part of the new ground.

World War One Burials

58226 Private J. E. Matthews, The Queen's (Royal West Surrey Regiment), transf. to (82467) 138th Coy. Labour Corps, died 10th April 1918, aged 37. Husband of Alice E. Matthews, of 7, Sims Cottages, Claygate, Surrey.

D/20791 Corporal James Chivas Smith M. M., B Squadron, 2nd Dragoons (Royal Scots Greys), died 3rd April 1918, aged 37. Son of James and Isabella Smith, of Cults, Aberdeenshire.

World War Two Burials

1608815 Sergeant Cecil Thomas Bishop, Flight Engineer in 218 Squadron, Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve, died 20th April 1944, aged 19. Son of Thomas J. Bishop and Ethel L. Bishop, of Cheltenham, Gloucestershire.

421008 Flight Lieutenant Gregory McGowan Doolan, Royal Australian Air Force, died 20th April 1944, aged 23. Son of Ambrose Vincent and Kathleen Violet Doolan, of Binnaway, New South Wales, Australia.
