Location Information

Boisleux-au-Mont is a village about 9 kilometres south of Arras. The Communal Cemetery is north-west of the village on the road which leads to the village of Ficheux.


Historical Information

Boisleux-au-Mont Communal Cemetery contains six Commonweatlh burials of the First World War and two from the Second World War.

The Honourable Harold Fox Pitt Lubbock
2nd Bn. Grenadier Guards
4th April 1918, aged 29.

Son of the late John Lubbock, 1st Baron Avebury and Alice his wife, of Kingsgate Castle, Kent; husband of Dorothy C. Lubbock, of High Elms, Farnborough, Kent. Also served in Gallipoli and Palestine as Capt. in West Kent Yeomanry. His brother, Capt. Eric F.P. Lubbock also fell and is buried in Lijssenthoek Military Cemetery in Belgium

Chaplain 4th Class The Reverend Edward Reginald Gibbs, Army Chaplains Department, attached to 1st Bn. Grenadier Guards, died 29th March 1918, aged 32. 
Son of the Rev. William C. and Mrs. Gibbs, of Temple Hill, East Budleigh, Devon.

23713 Private Cyril Arthur Holmes, 1st Bn. Grenadier Guards, died 28th March 1918, aged 22. Son of Albert Edward Holmes, of Clarks Farm Cottage, Beetley, East Dereham, Norfolk. Native of Whetstone, Middx.

Second Lieutenant Cecil Clarence Mays, 1st Bn. Grenadier Guards, died 30th March 1918, aged 23. Son of George and Clara Julia Marriott Mays.

World War Two Burials

4459444 Private John Ball Watson, 1st Bn. The Tyneside Scottish, Black Watch (Royal Highlanders), died 21st May 1940, aged 23. Son of Robert Harland Watson and Helen Watson, of Willington Quay, Northumberland.

4457936 Private George Whiteley, 10th Bn. Durham Light Infantry, died 19th May 1940 and 21st May 1940, aged 21. Son of Frank and Frances Mary Whiteley, of Pudsey, Yorkshire.
