Location Information

Hillside Cemetery is located halfway between the villages of Caix and Le Quesnel on the D41, and is accessible via a signposted road off the main road.


Visiting Information

Wheelchair access is possible with some difficulty.


Historical Information

Le Quesnel village, which had been for sometime in Commonwealth hands, was captured by the Germans on 27 March 1918, but was retaken on the following 9 August by the 75th Canadian Infantry Battalion.

Hillside Cemetery was made by the Canadian Corps in August 1918.

The cemetery contains 108 First World War burials, three of them unidentified.

​The cemetery was designed by William Harrison Cowlishaw
