Location Information

Morchies is a village 8 kilometres north-east of Bapaume and 2 kilometres north of the RN30 road from Bapaume to Cambrai. Leave the RN30 on the RD18 signposted Morchies. Pass through the village when Morchies Military Cemetery will be seen clearly on the left hand side of the road. Morchies Communal Cemetery is adjacent to the Military Cemetery.


Burial Details


139016 Private Charles Edward Barnes, 3rd Bn. Canadian Infantry, died 19th October 1916.

PS/10143 Private T. G. Capes, 8th Bn. Royal Fusiliers, died 12th October 1916, aged 19. Son of Tom S. and Caroline Capes, of 68, South Parade, Pudsey, Leeds. Born at Eccles, Lancs.

2667 Serjeant W. Fraser, M. M. 1st/5th Bn. Duke of Wellington's (West Riding Regiment, died 8th September 1916.

3/7923 Private J. Holdsworth, 6th Bn. Yorkshire Regiment, died 3rd October 1916, aged 23. Son of James and Sarah Ann Holdsworth, of Stockton-on-Tees.

415339 Private Howard Stanton Horne, 5th Canadian Mounted Rifles Bn. Died 5th October 1916.
