Location Information

Reims is a town 58 kilometres east of Soissons. From the centre of the town, take the direction Epernay/Chateau Thierry. On Rue du Vesle, cross the canal (Pont du Vesle), then take the first road to the left under the railway bridge. Take the 2nd right turning and Reims Western cemetery lies on the right hand side of this road.

The cemetery contains two Commonwealth burials of the First World War, which are located near the French plot to the left hand side of the entrance - Plot XLV.


Burial Details

78276 Lance Bomardier John Maurice Cartwright, M. M. "B" Battery, 312th Brigade, Royal Field Artillery, died 20th July 1918, aged 22. Son of John H. and Eleanor Cartwright, of 69, Scarborough Rd. Norton, Malton Yorks.

796283 Gunner Sidney Cross, "B" Battery, 312th Brigade, Royal Field Artillery, died 20th July 1918, aged 21. Son of John and Margaret Hannah Cross, of 32, Conduit St., Manningham, Bradford.
