​Location Information

St Germain-au-Mont-d'Or is a village 14.5 kilometres north of Lyon.

St. Germain-au-Mont d'Or Communal Cemetery Extension is situated to the east of the village on the Rue du Souvenir, on a hill overlooking the River Saone. The Extension is situated on the west side of the Communal Cemetery.

Wheelchair access to this site is possible via the main entrance. 

The register is available in the Mairie on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 9.00 to 12.00 and 15.00 to 17.45 - 
Wednesday from 9.00 to 12.00 and Saturday from 9.00 to 11.30

Historical Information

The cemetery was begun in October 1917, and used by a Rest Camp and a small British Hospital until November 1919.

There are now over 100, 1914-18 and over 10, 1939-45 war casualties commemorated in this site. 

The cemetery covers an area of 1,169 square metres and is enclosed by a stone rubble wall.

Total Burials: 117.

World War One Identified Casualties: United Kingdom 95, India 7, Australia 3. Total 105.

World War Two Unidentified Casualties: United Kingdom 10, Canada 1. Total 11.

​The cemetery was designed by Arthur James Scott Hutton
