Location Information

Vittel is a town in the Vosges region of France. The Communal Cemetery is located to the east of the town on Sent. du Cimetière.

History Information

Vittel Communal Cemetery contains a number of French war graves and four Commonwealth burials of the First World War.


Visiting Information

The Commonwealth graves are in the south-east part.



Burial Details: 
 
39306 Private, Harold Blissett. 9th Bn. King's Own Yorkshire Light Infantry, died 4th June 1918, aged 19. Son of Tom and Sarah Blissett, of Dingley, Market Harborough.
 

40825 Corporal, John George Coleman, 1st Bn. Lincolnshire Regiment, died 5th June 1918, aged 31. Son of William and Isabella Coleman, of Boston, Lincs; husband of Ellen Coleman, of 13, Rasen Lane, Lincoln. His headstone bears the inscription "Worthy Of Everlasting Love"
 
57472 Private, L. H. Prothero, 10th Bn. Worcestershire Regiment, died 24th June1918, aged 25. Son of Mrs. Prothero, of Merthyr, Glam.; husband of E. M. Prothero, of 6, Heden Cottages, Upper Bonchurch, Isle of Wight. His headstone bears the inscription "Peace Perfect Peace With Loved Ones Far Away In Jesu's Keeping We Are Safe And They"
 
202190 Private, E. Slinger, 9th Bn. Royal Welsh Fusiliers, died 5th June 1918, aged 19. Son of Mr. and Mrs. James Slinger, of 16, Devon Terrace, Pontefract Lane, York Rd., Leeds. His headstone bears the inscription "On Whose Soul Sweet Jesus Have Mercy"
