The town of Péronne is approximately 20 kilometres east of Amiens. La Chapelette British Cemetery lies a little south of Péronne on the east side of the main road from Peronne to Roye.

Historical Information
Peronne town was occupied by British troops on the 18th March 1917, lost on the 23rd March 1918, and regained on the 1st September 1918.
The 34th Casualty Clearing Station was at La Chapelette in April-July 1917; the 55th for a short time in April, and the 48th in May; the Lucknow from May 1917, to March 1918; the 53rd and the 12th for short periods in September 1918. In the spring of 1918 the Germans made eleven burials in the two cemeteries; three Italian graves of this period have been removed.
There are now 577, 1914-18 war casualties commemorated in this site, 6 of which are unidentified.

His headstone bears the following inscription; "Far From Those Who Loved Him, In A Hero's Grave He Lies."
A farmer prior to enlistment he embarked with the 13th Reinforcements on HMAT Benalla (A24) on 9 November 1916. Pte Forsyth died of wounds in France on 11 September 1918, he was 25 years of age.
He was admitted to 53rd Casualty Clearing Station suffering from gun shot wounds to his face, he died off these wounds at 9.a.m., on 11th September 1918.
6775 Private T. Kemp gave the following description of the fatal wounding of Allan Forsyth;
"He was a machine gunner, No.1 on the gun, short, fair, nuggety. We were doing a platoon stunt just in front of Jeancourt on the 10th September, about 5.30.p.m. Fritz was firing from the left and we sat down together to give them a bit of covering fire. Forsyth was hit by a rifle bullet, went inside of nose and came out back of ear, it was soon after the stunt started. he was carried out by Stretcher Bearers Hayes and Belcher."
