Location Information

Villemontoire is a commune some 10 kilometres south of Soissons. The Communal cemetery is on the left-hand side of the main road to the village coming from the D1. The Commonwealth war graves are situated to the rear left-hand corner of the cemetery.

Historical Information

​There are 6, 1914-1918 U. K. Commonwealth Servicemen buried here.


Burial Details

200492 Lance Corporal James Campbell, 6th Bn. Cameron Highlanders, died 1st August 1918, aged 21. Son of James and Helen Campbell, of Parkview, Broadloan, Renfrew. His headstone bears the inscription "Not Dead But Sleepeth"

32040 Private Alexander Croll, 6th Bn. 
Cameron Highlanders, died 1st August 1918, aged 19. Son of Robert And Elizabeth Croll.

25813 Private John Ferguson, 6th Bn. Cameron Highlanders, died 1st August 1918, aged 40. Son of Malcolm and Catherine Taylor Ferguson; husband of Barbara Nicolson Ferguson, of Langside, Kingussie. His headstone bears the inscription "Dileas Gu Bas Faithful Unto Death"

Second Lieutenant Sidney James Grey, 14th Bn. 
London Regiment (London Scottish), attached to 6th Bn. Cameron Highlanders, died 1st August 1918, aged 29. Son of Mrs. Emma Rebecca Grey, of 45, Grosvenor Terrace, Camberwell, London.

26459 Private D. MacPhee, 6th Bn. 
Cameron Highlanders, died 1st August 1918, aged 27. Son of John and Margaret Cameron Macphee, of 3, West End Terrace, Fort William, Inverness-shire.

200534 Private J. McDonald, 6th Bn. 
Cameron Highlanders, died 1st August 1918.
