Ma Yi Pao born in 1894 in Yunnan, China, died September 2, 1918 in Jaulzy.

Mia Yi Pao, who remains unknown, has his name engraved in the stone of the national necropolis of Vic-sur-Aisne. His military record states that he "Died for France on September 2, 1918, from his wounds, in the Jaulzy ambulance, in the Oise. »

Of Muslim religion, Mia Yi Pao had left his country, then in full political instability (period known as the Lords of the War), to escape the religious persecutions of which he was the victim. He enlisted in the Foreign Legion at the age of 24 and found himself deployed with his brothers in arms in the trenches.

If a hundred Chinese workers have been recognised as "dead for France", Mia Yi Pao is the only fighter immortalized as such.
